Question:

4m Bored piers parallel to sewer line..why?

i am builing a house and my engeneer said it was necessary to include the 4m deep bored piers along the side of the slab paralleling the sewer line... just out of curiosity can anyone give me 2 reasons why this is so...

  1. Apparently the soil in your location is either too wet, or too unstable to support a normal foundation.  Is sounds like the piers are to increase the stability of the soil.

    They would naturally be placed in the lowest portion of the grade to act as a 'dam'.  The lowest portion of the grade will follow the sewer line.
