my little girl just turned 4 months, and she has been vomiting after every feed. Its only on a night on her last feed that she hasnt vomited...

I breastfeed exclusively with no supplement. My mother advised me to maybe give her a few spoonfuls of baby rice? she thinks it may help keep the milk down..what do you think?

Any other tips or advice would be great..its my 1st and unsure on what to do.

Thanks

  1. How long as this been going on? If it's been just recently have you changed anything in YOUR diet that could be affecting her? Go through the list of foods you eat. If it's been going on for some time now then it may be reflux, in which case her doctor will have to diagnose that for SURE and will be able to help you out further. Also ask the doctor about rice cereal. Some recommend it while others don't. Just don't start it until you speak with the doctor.

  2. Has this always happened? Is she a real fussy baby? Some babies are just spitters. If she is gaining weight good then their is really nothing that can be done. If she is feeding fine I'm sure their is nothing to worry about. She just gets fussy before because she is getting the upset stomach. I really don't think it would be acid reflux or GERD. Some signs of those would be, frequent hiccups, wet sounding hiccups, wet sounding burps, spitting up a lot, fussiness while eating or after, and a slow weight gain. You can always make yourself feel better by talking to the doctor.

  3. if this is something she's always done it may be that she has reflux, get her checked by your gp, you may be able to get some infant gaviscon from the gp which works wonders, it is possible to have reflux even if your baby is gaining weight/thriving ( sort of !), your gp may try and fob you off if they see the weight gain as in my neice's experience but you need to push to get your baby thoroughly checked out , good luck

  4. Call your doctor if you haven't already..if you are looking for opnions it could be Reflux? But it sounds like it is all of a sudden...could be any reason..call the doc! They will ask you the right questions!
