Find two DIFFERENT sets of three numbers whose sum is 100.

The #'s are: 40, 49, 76, 35, 32, 45, 30, 25, 55, 26, 33, 50.

I already did 35, 25, and 40 and I can't use that.

Anyone know the answer?

  1. 32 33 35 = 100

    25 30 45 = 100

  2. Look at the last digits of each of these numbers.  You have 0, 9, 6, 5, 2.  All of the numbers end in one of these five numbers.

You know that 100 ends in a 0.  What combination of numbers can you add up that will end in 0?  If you add up two numbers that end in 5 and one that ends in 0, you always get a number that ends in 0.  If you add up three numbers that end in 0, you get a number that ends in 0.  If you add up three numbers that end in 6, 2, and 2, you get a sum that ends in 0.  Try using this to narrow down your guesses.

  3. 49 + 26 + 25 = 100

    35 + 32 + 33 = 100

    there you go
