  1. it depends on her school and the counties district rules...she could do summer school and still go into the next grade

  2. she may be able too but will have to work harder at getting her grades up, if she's having problems at school with her school work then maybe you should get her a tutor to help her out sometimes they can have some at her local school, check around and ask someone about it.

  3. YES.... AS LONG AS SHE HAS NO D'S OR F'S SHE DOING AVERAGE AND ABOVE!

  4. Totally! Well, when I was in grade school I did very well, all A's and B's. But when I got into 6th grade and adv. math, it was HARD to keep up. I finished 6th grade with all B's and C's, and I passed.

You have to get atleast 2 F's to be held back.

  5. of course she can - only if she fails out will she be held back. The teacher may ask to conference with you on whether or not she's ready for 5th grade or not - and you can ask for her to be held back... but she will move on with a C grade average. good luck ♥

  6. Yes, she will progress into 5th grade but you might want to get her some acedemic help because it only gets more difficult from here. Pick up some workbooks for summer review - don't overdo it, just a few pages a week so she doesn't resent the effort. Also, when she returns to school (actually, you might want to get he ball rolling now) find out what they offer for academic support. It has made a big difference for both my daughter (still a C student but no longer at risk of failing) and my niece (former C and D student who is now earning all As and one B).

  7. Yes, she is an average student. Don't be ashamed of that please.  Talk to her teachers and see what her strengths and her weakness are so you can help her continue to work on her studies during the summer. Local libraries usually have summer reading programs to help with reading. There are good computer games you can install for other subjects she can play and learn. Talk to her teachers about what the schools offer in intervention for next year.

  8. yes

    c's and b's are average

a's are good but she can still move on to 5th grade

  9. Maybe she can. Seek out some extra help. If she feels a lil self conscious about having a tutor. Tell her don't worry...she may not understand but it will pay off later!

  10. Yes I think so!!

  11. I'm sure she can go on to the 5th grade, however, do you really want her to for her sake?  I don't believe a C in grade school is average.  You mentioned that she has after school help, are you the one helping her?  You should make it a point every night to try to work with her on something even if only for ten minutes.  If she isn't doing as well as you would like her to now, it's not likely that she will do any better next year in 5th grade because it's only going to get harder.  You should talk with the teacher and maybe the school counselor and see what suggestions they have.

  12. of course. She's not flunking....just doing average. Nothing wrong with that!!

  13. This is an issue best discussed with your daughter's teacher.  He/she is the person who knows best if C's and B's are a reflection of your daughter's best efforts.  Technically, C's can be considered "average" and are not a failing grade.  There are many things besides grades that go into the decision making process when it comes to determining if a student is ready to move up a grade or would benefit from repeating a grade level.  If you have concerns I suggest you contact your daughter's teacher and arrange a conference.  I would lean towards thinking that if the teacher has not been in contact with you about holding your daughter back in 4th than there is no concern.  Usually these decisions are made by now since teachers and administration are beginning to think about placements for next school year.

  14. I don't see why not.  She's not failing anything.

Are you worried about her grades or her becoming a 5th grader, because that, my friend, is VERY SCARY!

  15. Ask the school/teacher what they think she should do. Maybe you should have them do educational testing to see why shes having a hard time keeping higher scores. Sometimes they need help or revised material to help them. Otherwise just look into a summer school program. So she doesn't fall further behind through the summer months.

  16. Hello!  A "C" means your child is AVERAGE, not failing!   And a "B" is a GOOD grade.  Your child is not failing anything, or even close to it.  Why on earth would you even think that she couldn't move on to fifth grade?  Do you think they need straight "A"s to be promoted?  You are putting way too much pressure on this kid!
