4th grader having difficulty counting time...?

Any ideas/suggestions on how to help a 4th grader count time..for example if she is asked how much time is between 2:15 to 5:30, she gets so confused....help...

  1. Buy her a big clock with numbers and allow her to count the hours and minutes using the clock. Keep practicing on this until she gets it down. Slowly give her easier problems without the clock and work up from there. Ask her to tell you how long until she gets to go do something. If she is looking forward to it then she will be more willing to work it out. Good luck!!

  3. Use both analog and digital clocks

    Tell the time in a way like "The dinner will be ready in 50 minutes", or "your favourite comedy will be aired in 75 minutes" - just make your child go figure the time.

  4. Practice, practice, practice! I'd get a clock that has movable hands and set them to the starting time. If she's physically moving them to the next hour, she should make a tic mark on a piece of paper so she can count hours, then count minutes from there.
