I have a ps3, and i want to get the logitech x-530 speakers for 5.1 surround sound. Is it possible for me to get 5.1 surround sound without a sound card? What would I connect the speakers with?

  1. You would not be getting true 5.1 surround, just an emulated sound from a 2.1 source. To get true 5.1 you need to use an optical cable or HDMI cable, and have a reciever to decode the dolby digital/DTS sound format.

To connect the speakers to you ps3 and get emulated 5.1, simply use the AV canle that came with the PS3 and plug that into a Y cable (red/white inputs with one out put that attaches to the speaker set) that came with the speakers. Now follow the speakers instructions and connect it properlly. When done go into settings on the ps3, audio settings, and select AV MULTI as the source for sound output.
