  1. What are you listening to? And what are you using for your receiver. If you are listening to the radio or a CD then they are stereo and by default only 2 channels work. Your receiver should have a 5 channel stereo mode or other surround modes that you can choose from.

If you are listening to a DVD, then how have you connected it to your Receiver? Is it in to a jack labeled Coax or digital or is it into two jacks that are red and white (R and L)? If its into two jacks then you are not getting a 5 channel signal and need to get a digital signal from the DVD player to the Receiver.

  2. You have to use a digital connection, to get true 5.1 sound out of the format, {cable box. sat box. dvd player}  if you don't have a digital connection than try switching to Dolby pro-logic.  This takes the 2 channel source and matrixes it into a 5 speaker sound.

  3. Try adjusting the surround sound settings and that should work.  locate the button on your remote and press it repeatedly until u hear sound coming from all the speakers.
