I'm 30 years old with lots of great things going on in my life, but I'm still battling with uncontrollable low feelings. I'm trying everything to feel better, including St John's Wort (have been on it a week), exersise, healthy diet etc etc. I've heard that St John's Wort can react badly with other suppliments and medications and wondered if anyone had any experiences of 5 HTP?

  1. 5htp does help to raise the levels of natural antidepressants in the brain (is it tryptophan?..sorry am not a scientist!)...but its still not a natural answer....its a treatment that will solve the problem as long as you are taking it...but its best to supplement with exercise/diet etc..and the most important thing..is make sure to have some fun..if you are spending all your time dealing with cures/hassles..then you wont have any chance to feel more relaxed and chilled about things....good luck to you

  2. SAM-E is supposed to be a good treatment for depression for some and is even given by some physicians alternatively to prescription medicine with some good results. It is a bit costly.
