ON FRIDAY WE WERE TOLD WITHOUT E-RAYS THAT MY DAUG'S LEG SEEMS TO BE LONGER THAN THE OTHER. SHE WENT BY ONE OF THE LINES ON MY DAUG'S THIGH, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS BECAUSE SHE IS A CHUCKY ONE. THE NEXT APPOINTMENT IS 2 MONTHS LATER. WHAT IS THIS? AND HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? HER LAST APPOINTMENT WAS ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND THAN THE DOCTOR DID NOT NOTICE THIS. PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS A LITTLE BIT MORE??? THANKS

  1. It is up to YOU to ask questions and have the peditrician explain EVERYTHING to you at the child's appointment.  I doubt anyone here knows why it appears that your child has one leg longer than the other there are very few licensed practicing Peditricians on this board.  You need to call the doctor and have him/her explain the findings to you and not rely on a bunch of strangers on an internet message board.

  2. I never heard of surgery to fix this kind of problem unless there is some other complication like limited mobility or something like that.

I think if u see something that concerns u u should call the doctor and ask for an appoinemt right away. If u are still skeptical about his answer get a second opinion!!

It's ur daughter and u should be satisfied with the answers u get.

My cousin had a shorter leg too but the difference was not much. She had no further problems at all. ( she is around 40 now) and she has a little limp. But she also has se special shoes. Those make up for the difference and she doesn't limp at all. When she was a kid the shoes were awful but today they have nice looking ones!!!

Good luck to u and ur daughter

  3. call the doctor back and say that you need to have it looked at. if it is longer than the other leg then it may lead to problems walking in the long run. usually they'll see you in a few short days. she may just need to grow a little more. They may start to even out.

    hope this helps!

  4. She needs to have x-rays done.

Hopefully she's fine, but one of my best friends daughter has a syndrome that sounds similar to your little girl's.  We first noticed with wearing shoes that her feet were different sizes.  Then we starting noticing (after she started walking) that she hobbled - one leg was longer than the other.  She had x-rays done and lots of doctor visits...we found out that she has a genetic syndrome.  We cried when off this first happened.  But you know what...that little girl is now in 1st grade beautiful, vibrant, smart and normal!!!! :)  She still has to go get an ultrasound (her syndrome could cause a growth on her liver) but they have turned these outings into positive and fun.  She gets the jelly on her belly - then out for pancakes at IHOP.  it's a treat.  She is healthy and happy and her legs are even now.

I hope your baby doesn't have any problems, if she does..pray and take it one day at a time.

    Good luck :)

  5. my fiance has one leg longer than the other. one is about one inch longer and when he was younger, the doctor told his mom that they can break his legs and fix the problem but it will take him much longer to learn how to walk. his mom went against it and decided that he can live life with one leg longer than the other. hes now 22 and he is fine. he has a limp but its very minor and you can barely even tell. he walks, runs, and plays many sports. hes even a body builder and a personal trainer.

    hes very much normal.

    dont worry about it.

its really a decision you will have to make on your own but 9x outta 10, they're going to give you the same options.

    good luckk!
