I had a blood test performed today to test for pregnancy, although it is still 5 days before my period I was wondering if it would detect elevated levels of hcG?

  1. it's possible it could, but if it doesn't that wouldn't mean you weren't pregnant, just that you should wait another week and then test again

  2. do you have regular cycles? if so a blood test should be accurate :) good luck! and you can ask a doctor online for free about this as well, try this website, FertilityTies

    good luck!!!

  3. Possibly, but not necessarily.  It takes 6-10 days after conception for the embryo to travel to the uterus and implant itself in the lining, and only AFTER it implants will it start to produce HCG (which is the hormone that blood tests are measuring).  If it is 5 days before your period, chances are you ovulated about 9 days ago, so you may not have implanted yet if you are on the long side of that 6-10 day average.  If you were on the earlier side, a blood test could detect pregnancy at this point.

  4. not sure but 1st response does 5 days before your missed period so if in doubt try that hpt

  5. A positive blood pregnancy test is anything over 11 MLU's, a positive first response will detect 25 MLU's.  It is possible.  HCG doubles every 48 hours....good luck to you!
