  1. My son would get a slight fever with his shots, although the older he got the better he was able to handle them.  I would give him tylenol (or motrin depending on his age) before the appointment and I would continue to give it to him through the next day or two.

101.9 is pretty high for shots though!  I would call her doctor and let them know.  If it's a problem, maybe next time you could space the shots out a little bit.

I hope she feels better soon!

  2. Please give her some Infant's tylenol every 4 hours and consult a doc.  yes, it's completely normal for the baby to get fever after the shots.

  3. Yes, running a fever after shots is very normal. You'll be glad to know that babies can handle very high fevers (up to 106!) very well. If her fever doesn't come down with medicine - call her doctor asap. If her fever breaks the 104 mark, you need to take her to the ER. They say to wait until 105 but if you're like me - you'd go at 104 as that is close enough in my book. Keep her in light clothing - don't let her catch a chill! DO NOT put her in a cool bath, her fever isn't that high and making her cold will actually raise her temperature as her body with try to warm itself up again. Keep her drinking and let her rest. After you give medicine - retake her temp in one hour - it should have gone down about a full degree. Good luck and don't panic - I wouldn't take her to the ER unless it gets really high as they are dirty, dirty places and if your baby wasn't really ill when she got there - she will be when she leaves.

  4. infant paracetamol is really helpful. you can also give her a slightly colder bath than usual and let her airdry and only pat her a little witha towel to get most of the water. rubbing gets her warmer. keep her clothing very light and use fewer blankets when she's sleeping.

it should pass in a couple of days but you can always phone your doctor if you are worried about her.

  5. I would call the Dr.'s ofc. to report this. They should have given you instructions on what to do for fever (it is very common). Did they not tell you to administer Tylenol or something? Cool wet washcloth to sponge the baby's face, neck, and arms with might help. I hope your poor baby is feeling better soon.
