More often than not, we all have used words like “overrated” and “underrated” for players and teams alike. Overrated players or teams tend to get a lot of media attention, whereas the underrated teams or players always tend to be ignored by the media and
are rarely given even deserved air time by channels and even newspapers.
If a good player or team stays overrated for a long time, either the team or player goes to the next level or unluckily can even disappear from the front news, simple as that!
But being an underrated player should be taken as a compliment (an underrated player, not a team) as it definitely eases up the pressure for the player as many good players are known to collapse under pressure. On the other hand, it seems unfair as well
if a player is good and has unquestionable ability but he is still not talked up that much.
Although MLS is not as popular as the European or South American leagues, it still has some players who are getting pretty famous now and like every league there are players who are underrated. It’s very understandable that these players aren’t that well
known outside the MLS but it should be very surprising and unfair to some extent that these players aren’t talked about much in the MLS either.
Let's take a look at 5 of those underrated players who are crucial to their respective teams but sadly, don’t get the credit and recognition that they deserve.
1) http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eddie-Gaven-c11839-midfielder (Columbus Crew)
Eddie Gaven first appeared in the MLS when he was only 16-years old and it was expected that he would be a star in the future. But 8 years later, the midfielder from Columbus has become a useful contributor for his side in an entirely different way.
His exuberance and consistent performances have made him an important part of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Columbus-Crew-c38850 and he is now even an emergency goalkeeper for his side that is always there when his team needs him. Because of his loyalty and patience, he was rewarded with
a ticket to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757 in this year's FIFA World Cup and was recently called up top to play against South Africa this November. His great passing ability and industrious work in the midfield has won praise all over the MLS and after being an unsung hero
for a long time, perhaps now is the time that Gaven should stamp his authority as the future of American soccer.
2) Drew Moor- Defender (Colorado Rapids)
Not a lot can be said about the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Colorado-Rapids-c38849 defender as he isn’t the quickest or physically the most imposing player on the field. He doesn’t score goals from set-pieces like most good defenders do and neither is he an aerial threat in the opponents’
penalty box.
But there is one thing about his game that should never be ignored by either Colorado Rapids fans or the MLS teams. The guy is always going to put in a decent shift and will always be a solid presence at the back of the defense. His consistency is another
reason why his teammates perform better with him around.
Most of the good defenders in any league these days are usually physically gifted and can even score the odd goal but that’s not the way Drew Moor is built, but he always makes up for these short-comings through his competitive nature and solid marking.
It is no wonder that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marvell-Wynne-c24482 at the centre of the defense as his new role.
