if i'm on the highway going 70, the rpm's are almost 4000. that just seems really high to me. is there anything i can do?? i still get over 30 miles/gallon, but my last manual got closer to 35/mpg even in city driving, so i'm just wondering if there's something wrong, or anything i can do--other than just driving like a grandma =)

  1. I know how buzzy it sounds at speed, but there is nothing that you can do to reduce the engine speed other than slowing down.

  2. Even a tiny engine like that should not be working that hard going only 70. Its true that it is a small car but there is something wrong here. My guess which is only a guess because I haven't seen the problem is that your gears are getting stuck. I had a problem with a honda accord a while back and I rebuilt my entire trans replacing all the gears and sprockets (they were rusted) and now it runs much easier. You could not have any problem at all but it did happen to me and that was the problem so just an idea.

  3. Nope, that is a SMALL motor, it's doing all it can to go that fast. Like a hamster in a wheel on speed!! LOL Make sure you are in 5th gear though. 70 MPH is not good for those tiny little motors, they can go BOOM!!!
