  1. The Nile river which is the lingest river in the world, bisects Egypt running south to north. Before the Nile, enters the Mediterranean it branches into many tributaties that form the Delta region, which has long been referred to as Egypts bread basket for most if the primary produce is grown in this area.

Egypt is bordered to the north by the Mediterranean sea and to the east by the Red Sea. Beyond the inhospitible craggy mountain ranges that run each side of the thin green belt of arable land are the desert regions that make up over 70% of Egypt's land mass.

To the East is the Eastern Desert and to the West is the Saharan Desert, that is also sometimes called The Western Desert and continues past Egypts border with Libyia.

To the south rise the ancient volcanic ranges that hold the source of the Nile river and the countries of Uganda,Sudan and Ethiopia.

So you have The Nile river

Its belts of arible land hemmed in by moutains whch protect the land from the desert.

The Delta formed by the Nile branching into multiple tributaries and the centre for most of the primary production. The deserts and mountains which form natural defences along with the Mediteranean and Red Seas

The Eastern and Western Deserts, also natural defences against invaders .

Egypt's only vunerable spot was the ares of the Suez canal and it is through this small bottle neck of land  most  invading armies have come throughout Egypt's long history.
