  1. Pirate party is cute, my sis just had one for my nephew. She gave the kids eye patches, 1 earring, bandannas and blow up swords to play with. For the candy bags she gave little treasure chest instead with skeleton scarves and skeleton bracelets. We played pirate music (backyardigans and pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack). Invitations were on plain white paper but in black ladder font centred and burned on the edges to make it look like a map. Instead of pin the donkey she had find the treasure map game. Oh ya the invitation said something like "Ahoy thar mateys ye be invited to... come  if you dare but beware for swashbuckling fun and yo ho games to be won! Have yer mum send word by phone, sees ye thar! I thought it was really cute!

  2. Jungle Theme...

Most zoos have a party room available. Have a zoo keeper do a little talk and then look at all of the neat animals.

    Have the food be...

    animal cookies

    pigs in a blanket

    danimals yogurt

Have a pinata of his favorite animal

Have a masks that the kids can decorate

  3. Here's a website for party decorations and pinatas  http://www.pinatas.com/Boys_Birthday_Pin...

  4. well if he is into fire trucks, that would be an awesome idea. but if not, how about a pool party? i was going to do that for my son, but i booked it too late

  5. carnival party

carnival games give kids tickets to buy prizes at the end.

  6. My grandson is now 6 and still

to this day talks about the Safari

Birthday Party he had at age 4 !!

All the children got safari hats

    with their names on them.

    Games included Monkey Face Toss

w/little bean bags, zoo animal pinatas,

& pin the tail on the Zebra !!

Snacks were Ants on a Log (peanut

butter filled or perhaps cream cheese

filled) celery sticks with raisins on top,

    gummy worm chocolate pudding cups

sprinkled with a dirt looking crumb concoction,

and a cake in the shape of a snake

    covered in green icing.

His Mom & Dad both wore safari atire

and showed off a pet snake for petting

entertainment ( small and harmless )

You know how enquisitive little boys are !!

  7. My 4-yr-old grandson just had his birthday at the local fire department.  They had a room for just that purpose!  They don't charge anything, but my daughter did make a donation and bought extra pizzas for the firemen:)   They give a little talk to the kids, and let them climb all over the fire engines & paramedic truck.  They had a pinata outside, which they hung from the fire truck's ladder:) .....She bought those plastic fire hats for favors too ... and got a cupcake cake, in the shape of a fire engine (from Kroger's)

  8. Pokemon, Ben 10, Zack and Cody, Shrek, Playboy (joke)

  9. I LOVE the firehouse idea, little boys love fire trucks and if he's into that, I would definitely check into it.

I also like the carnival theme.  You can set up some games, have a ring toss for the kids, do the pinata where they have to pull the string to open it so no one gets hurt.  You can get a kiddie pool and some rubber ducks and fill it with water and do the ring toss where the kids have to get the ring around the ducks.  You can also set up some plastic cups and have them toss a ball into the cups, etc.  Make it fun for them.  Decorate with red and white balloons and streamers, have popcorn and cotton candy, corn dogs, etc.

You can also set up an ice cream bar, get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream, sprinkles, some whipped cream and chocolate sauce, get some paper bowls and cones and have the kids make their own ice cream sundaes, you can put a scoop of ice cream in the bowl, then the cone is the hat, and have them decorate the scoop like a face, like a clown!

You can also do a zoo theme at home!  You can have the kids make their own zoo animal masks, you can also find in your area if there's someone that can bring a small pony for pony rides if that's possible.  You can decorate the areas in animal themes and do the games in the themes of the animals.  You can have a zoo/safari hunt, you can also do the traditional games and just make them in a zoo theme, like musical chairs, hot potato, games like that, put into an animal theme.

Is there another character that your son is into?  You can go with that too and run with that theme.

Being it's summer, what about making it outside, do relay races with potato sack races, three legged races, water balloons, tug of war over a water filled kiddie pool, the wheelbarrel race where one person holds the other person's ankles and they run together, etc.  Make it a an outdoor party filled with relay and team games/sports.

I hope some of these ideas help and that your son has a great party.  I also hope he has a very Happy 5th Birthday!
