  1. Take her to a counselor. Children react this way when there is something wrong, usually it is a cry for help.

  2. Ask yourself, has anything changed with the way you are relating with her lately? Could someone be hurting her that you are not aware of? Has something been stealing attention that is usually reserved for her? As for the stepdad, considering that she is using him as her reasoning, are you positive that something hasn't happened between them?[[Appropriate or inappropriate?]]

  3. Press her about her stepdad casually, there could be something wrong. Ask "How does he hurt your feelings? How is he more strict?" She could appear to love him at times because children want to be loved so much they will forgive people for anything. Seriously there might be a huge problem that you can't see.
