  1. It was extremely rude. The waitress didn't prepare the food. If the service from her was at least average, she should've gotten a "typical" tip...above average should've been a higher tip. If your folks didn't like the food they should've asked to speak to the manager or the chef...not taken it out on the server who works for under minimum wage for ungrateful people.

  2. While you are not obligated to tip, in this situation punishing the waitress for the bad food is wrong. The chef made that food, not the waitress. Your parents should have complained to the waitress and sent the food back. If they had spoken to the manager, the manager could have adjusted the bill. In any case, none of this was the fault of the waitress but she's the only one to pay the price. Your parents are grown ups, they should know better than this. Next time, speak up.

  3. yea.. BUT,, the final check on the food before it arrives at your table is the waitress. It really is also her responsibility to make sure the food is good.. I know she cant taste it.. but I have had food delivered that one could see was bad... soggy fries, unappetizing presentation, dirty silverware or glasses and etc.. All this is Waitress.. They have to do a lot more than just serve and place what they are given. They are the final line between the customer and the restaurant. If your parents mentioned to the waitress how bad the food was, she prob would have gotten a manager right over if she was good.. on the other hand, I have had waitresses ignore me too.. so go figure.. if that place consistently severs bad food the waitress knows it and should get a job in good eatery where tips will not be influenced by bad food.

  4. I think it was rude especially for a bil that much.  Besides, it wasn't the waitress' fault that the food wasn't very good.  Food servers don't make a lot of money so they have to rely on tips.
