Question:

50 yard freestyle?

im 14 years old and im a girl. im very small..i only weigh 80 lbs and im only 5'0 feet tall so i have room to grow..

i do a 50 yard freestyle in 29.2.

i have a HUGE meet today and i need to improve.

advice on how to get to a 27? i know i am capable.

  1. Go for it take a fewer breaths as possiable and really work hard.


  2. SHAVE DOWN arms & legs wear  You have one of those new NASA  suits like Michael Phelps wears?  Build the 50. Hyperventilate 3X right before getting on the block

  3. Don't take as many breaths. Most I think you got it, sprinting has a lot to do with what is going on in your head. Stay Positive.

  4. quick start, dont s***w up you turn, and dont think (seems weird but it works) in sprinting if you think about it you will slow down, and take a few breaths as possible but also in a sprint the start is extremely important as with the turn because those can make or break your race

  5. First pump yourself up behind the block... jump around and get the blood flowing so that when ever you jump off your already to go...

    Second when diving off try to dive out more and not so deep, practice this in your warm-ups and ask your coach on how well it is...

    Third do not breathe so much and when you do try to rotate your breathing....

    Fourth try to pull with all your might as well as reach out to grab more water ....

    Fifth make an "S" movement when pulling the water it helps you grab more...

  6. ive seen many kids your age race and they dont look like theyve raced after their event. remember to use your strength to its fullest and go after it when youre done you should feel like youre dying but its well worth it, hello 27-

  7. you will be able to do it just work out more and work on your starts and streemline i know what to do i am a really good swimmer im in swim club

    dont take as many breaths

    dont breath first three strokes after doing flipturn

    finish on your side

  9. take 3 breaths on the way down and 2 breaths on the way back!! DON'T breathe off your first stroke and do 4-6 FAST dolphin kicks! listen to your coach!!!! he knos u better than we do! Oh ya... crack yo moma or red neck jokes... rub the block 3 times to get the nerve endings on your hands so u can catch the water easiar

Well, you sound really small so you'll probably never be that good.  I'm 5'6 and 110lbs (That's still pretty small) and I am also 14, but my 50 free time is 25.60.  Keep in mind that I won states last year though, so I guess we shouldn't compare.  Just remember to keep your head down and don't breathe too much. good luck!

  12. Since the meet is today--options are limited.  Swim the race smart.  One breath down, two breaths back, max.  Your legs should be running 6-beat kicks per stroke the whole way, full speed.  Strong streamlines off the wall.  And half fun.

    On the flip side, make sure your strokes are fast but stroke.  You cannot let your arms run so fast that you miss your catch on the water, and start slipping.  That will only slow you down.  Strong kick, strong-steady-fast arms.
