$500 42-inch hdtv?!?

My sister's boyfriend claimed tonight that his parents bought a LG 42" hdtv at best buy for only $500... and its 720p or something like that. I've been pricing tvs for a while and I was wondering if this could be true.

It MIGHT be true if they got a discount or something. 720p televisions are cheaper than 1080i and 1080p TVs because the resolution is lower.  There could be like a 200 or 300 dollar difference between them. And also if it was a generic brand and not a brand name like Sony or Toshiba.

he's full of it mate.

No way could you buy a TV of that size for that price, LCD or Plasma, wouldn't matter, LCD is dearer than plasmas but not a snow flakes chance in h**l would they of paid only 500 clams mate.
