  1. split into 5 100s.

    1 medium fast 70 % effrt

    2 faster 80 %

    3 85%

    4 95%

    5 last 100%!!

should be about 10 min if u average 2 minutes per 100 which is a kinda slow tempo for a meet so try to get 9 ish

  2. um they dont have 500meters in freestyle. but they have a 400meter.

  3. i have no idea how old you are, so that makes this kind of hard. but, asuming your my age ? (13).. you really need to pace yourself. you cant slow down. you CAN go faster though. at the end you reallly need to step it up. and one thing in distance freestyle is that you tend to almost 'forget' to kick. you really ahve to think about that, kick kick kick kick kick so you arms dont tire out.

    good luck !

and 15 minutes isss pretty long, no offense . i dont kno if your a beginner or whatever but thats not the best .....

  4. The 500m free is not completely difficult.  And it should definitely not take you 15 minutes.  Start the first lap at about 80%.  Slow down for about 400m.  Get to a comfortable pace.  Faster than a warm-up, slower than a sprint.  Try to find the "flow" - a place where you feel like you can keep going for ever.  Pick the last 100m up in speed and tempo.  Remember to use both your arms and your legs.

  5. 15 is very slow for competition.

Everyone has there own way to start the first 100(easy, build, take it out fast)

the 2nd 100 should be build or negavitve split

    the 3rd 100 and 4th 100should be the fastest

and the 5th 100 is all out.

  6. 15 minutes is just tooooooo slow dude. My 1500m time is only 22 minutes and my coach still thinks it's slow. I'm 12 btw.  My 400m free time is 6:04, my 500m would be about 7 minutes and maybe a little more.

    Tips:

-As someone mentioned above most swimmers tend to forget to kick during long distance, that is a common mistake, please do not forget to kick!!!

-Make sure you make really long pulls and reach really far, that's why it's long distance.

-Descend!!! Don't sprint the first 100m!!! Make the first hundred fast, 2nd hundred faster, 3 hundred even faster, 4th hundred sprint and last hundred all out, just kind of imagine a shark or something chasing you, say it's the end of your life if you don't reach the end of the pool.

    - About your last few hundred meters kicking: make sure you kick as fast as you can just go none stop. The kicking is the most important, just keep kicking!!!

All the best of luck to you!

  7. 15 minutes is pretty slow even for just lap swimming. Around 10 or 12 minutes would be more average for fitness swimmers.

For competitive swimming 15 minutes is way too slow. However there is no 500 meter in competitive swimming.

There's 500 yards and to be competitive in the event generally means it takes 5-5:30 minutes for women and 4:45-5:15 for men.

There is a 400 meter swim and the times are a little bit faster.

  8. remember to breath if you breath it will be no problem keep to your form it shouldn't take that long

  9. I am 12 and I go a 5:25. But for my age that is pretty fast. Most people my age go around 6 min. Well im talking about year around swimmers. If you've never done year around swimming then you should be around 8 - 10 min.

  10. pace yourself at the beginning, really go as fast as you can for about the last 100 or 50 cause thats where everything is the most crucial

  11. well in a competition 15 minutes is pretty slow. When I was 9 I swam it under 9 minutes. But that was sprint. If your swimming laps for fun 15 minutes is proboblly good. I don't know how old you are so I can't tell you exactly where you should be.

  12. it should take under ten minutes if you are in ok shape. tip: start out slow and as you go if you still have the enegy push and go faster. as you go you should feel stronger if in the right shape. good luck
