50cc california question?

im 15 and im just wondering if i can drive a 50cc moped in california without a license

  1. Unfortunately no.

    Even if you are of legal age, an M2 license is required for motor driven bicycles (mopeds) in the state of California.

    Even some scooters require a full motorcycle license (m1) to ride legally on the streets.

    And you still have to have insurance on both of them.


  2. IDK, but I thought you could get you Class M2 at 15 1/2, that is the license you need for a gas engine moped.  IIRC, a electrical motor moped does not require licensing, but if I am wrong then who is going to know that you're not just pedaling it at 25 MPH.
