Question:

50th Anniversary Gift Ideas?

My grandparent's 50th anniversary is coming up in about a month and I'd like to get them something from my boyfriend and I. My family is already organizing a nice party at a country club and hiring a photographer to take family photos, but I think it would be nice to get a little something as well.

I don't have any pictures of them from when they were first married. I wanted to get a copy of their marriage announcement from the local newspaper and have it framed but I would have to go to the public library and it's only on microform (I live 7 hours away, so that's not possible). I also thought about getting a reprint of the front page of the NY Times from the date they we married, but I was hoping for something a little more personal.

Any thoughts? They're big golfers and big coffee drinkers if that helps ...

I don't like the idea of traditional "gold" inspired gifts either, too unoriginal.

  1. I would go with engraved something. That always gives a very personal touch. For something like a 50th anniversary I think of a clock.  A nice traditional grandfather clock or something similar. You could have that engraved with a nice saying of "Timeless love" or something else sweet like that.

While golf stuff is nice, I don't think it's still appropriate for a 50th wedding anniversary. That's really quite an accomplishment and they deserve something really precious.

  2. A golf ball with his name, a coffee cup with golf theme, a table lamp with golf theme.

Check my blog for gifts ideas. Hope this will help you. check @ http://best-gifts-ideas.blogspot.com/200...

  3. Those ideas sound wonderful and I am sure they would love it.  Is there any way you could contact the library for help?  And possibly frame it in gold (or silver).

  4. Well you rejected most of my ideas.

Look for an older relative and see if they have a wedding picture of your grandparents.

A cousin of mine did for her parents and had them blown up to poster size for the party and then they had them as a gift afterwards.

  5. Get them matching golf gloves or sun visors that have "50 years of bliss" embroidered on it.

  6. Wow 50th is a long time. What about a photo album spanning their entire marriage? You could also get a customized golf bag with their names on it or something to that effect maybe with stitching "this marriage was a hole in one". Good luck!
