50th Anniversary of NASA?

According to Google, it is the 50th aniversary of NASA. How do you think they have impacted both the scientific community, and the average citizen over the past 50 years?

Well The Moon Landings were important for scientific study

Also studied some of the other planets

But the average citizen benefits from some of the tech that was originally made for NASA.

The list is long what Nasa has achieved for the average citizen but includes medicine, microwave ovens, cell phones, computers and more including knowledge of how the universe was formed, the age of the universe, how elements are made (inside stars).  Although most citizens are very science illiterate Nasa is one of the most needed agencies for the survival of our species.  The whole Nasa budget is about 1/16 of one percent of the United States budget which is a shame compared to all the money the United States spends on the humans destruction.
