what kind of capacitor do i need in order to make my LED flash 3 times a second with my two 1k resistors?

  1. I would recommend chosing higher values of resistances as the value of capacitance is going to be way too large for just 1K-ohm resistors.  Also, to calculate this, one resistor is going to be at least twice the other and the choice of circuit type has to be known.  Including Vcc in many cases to make sure pulse out is enough to trigger LED.
