55gal tanks to big?

Question

is a 55gal tank to big for 4 female leopard geckos? maybe to big for just 2? im lookin for a 55gal tank for my female leopard geckos(i want to get the females out of the 29gal, so my male can move into it, and i can keep the baby leo in the 10gal), but hve had no luck finding a 55gal, cuz either their to expensive or the ppl live to far away..........or the ppl never answer me back whn i ask them about the tank their selling. i really want the ppl will offer me a deal to be where i live, i dont want to drive(gas is getting expensive), i dont want to ship, cuz last time i got something shipped close to me it cast $34 to ship, whn i was told it was only goin to be $15. if anyones giving away or selling 55gal for cheap, let me kno, plz.

It might be big but if you put them in it they will grow larger so its better.

A 20 gal. long is large enough for 4 females.

I'd leave the females in the 29 gal, the male in the 10 gal, and buy a shoe box sized storage tub (with lid) for the baby. You'll have to drill air holes in the storage tub.

This would be a lot less expensive.

Another option would be to get "another" 10 gal for the baby.

It's hard to keep the temperature correct in an enclosure as large as a 55 gal.

Keeping them together has never been a problem in my experience. The female simply chases off the male and he moves on to the next potential female. (you do need to keep the babies seperate). There are only problems when you try to keep multiple males, or when smaller geckos are introduced.

A 40 gal is the same diameter as a 55 gal but not as tall, it would be easier to keep the temps with. Leos can't climb so you don't need the extra heigth anyway.
