  1. Sure, why not.

Nobody was supposed to beat Ruth HR records (season and career) Cobb's hits record, Gehrig's consecutive games record,  Sisler's single season hits record, etc, etc, etc......

    But they've all fallen.

It won't be easy and it may not happen, but there's no reason to think it won't happen just because it's stood for so long and is such a high number.

Incidentally, DiMaggio was robbed of two hits by the opposing 3rd baseman in what would have been game 57, them promptly put up a 17 game streak after that, so he could have had a 74 game streak.  He also had a 60+ game streak in the minors, I think 63 games but not sure.

  2. yes, someday someone will....why? because records are made to be broken, though it may take awhile....

  3. Several players have come close in recent years and I view this record as one that can be broken at some point in time.

  4. No. And if it is ever broken im sure it will be because of major league baseballs idiotic rule to allow a streak to continue on into the next season.

  5. I doubt it. Same with .400 and triple crown.
