I am on federal Supervised Release, but obviously I am viewed as too old, too educated, and lacking a work history for the past 15 years. Any suggestions or pointers welcome.

  1. How the h**l did you end up in prison if you are well educated? The only trust you will get is from yourself.

  3. Burger King is about as good as it's going to get for you.

  4. A bank job. A nice "safe" job

  5. its nothing to do with that its just the fact that you've been in prison, no one will trust you,

    good luck anyways x

  6. Is there some type of placement service connected with the prison system that you can make use of? If not, Goodwill or the Salvation Army may be able to help. Otherwise, you may need to take a job at McDonald's or another similar place until you can develop a work history.

I admire your honesty. Best wishes to you.

  7. You don't say in what field you received your education or what the perameters of your Supervised Release are.

Writing or public speaking could be a venue to help you educate others about how to avoid the problems you've faced.  I know of more than one person who, after their release from prison, became ministers.  Others got work for security firms to help make sure their systems were truly secure.  There are bound to be more options.

I don't know how it works - do you have a case worker who could help?

It won't be easy to regain the trust of society, ours is so unforgiving, but keep at it.  It can be done.  Good luck to you.

  8. um...not to be mean but...mcdonalds is good until you find a stable job.

  9. Don't break the law in your next life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Not sure where you live, but my thoughts are with you.

Your age is not a help true, but don't give up.  What sort of work are you willing to do and where do you live?  I am a Brit who now lives in the States and am not sure how thing are in the UK.  In the USA, there are possibilities for those over 55, but they are not jobs that an educated man may want.  Having said that, I needed work in a hurry 15 years ago, so I took a job that i was way over qualified for.  I told them to try me for a week and if it did not work, no harm no fowl.  It went great.

Please have faith in yourself.  My brother has spent time in Her Majesty's care".  Being stupid as a younger person, but he grew up.

E-mail me if you want to talk more, you have my support.

  11. I would think a state employment service might help. Maybe your sights are too high even thought you do have an education. You may have to start at the bottom and work up.

  12. Any skills to speak of?Try Internet entrepreneur.
