  1. Plasma in most cases will have the best picture (Panasonic & Pioneer) projection will have the best value, worst viewing angles plus lamp replacement is an issue unless you get one with an LED light engine. I have not yet found an LCD that I would buy in this size. I to am shopping for a new tv 58" and up.

  2. Plasma offers the best picture if you watch it in a dark room.  Otherwise, LCD is a close second.  Sony XBR is my choice for a top-dog LCD HDTV.  Pioneer Elite for plasma.

  3. it depends on yur theater room. For rooms ta ca get darker the plasma would be perfect with its rich colors and extreme detail.  the reason they would be better in a darker room is because they are susceptable to glare where as an lcd does not get glare an lcd with its large viewing angles and its very little glare are perfect for a regular family room with window in it.  rear projection you get a larger screen for smaller price but the viewing angle is a lot smaller meaning you cant see as well from the sides or at angles.  They are not too terrible for glare nothing like plasma. so if your theater room can get good and dark i would stick wih the plasma personally.

  4. If  you can maintain a low light environs, go with a DLP front projector like an Optoma HD65 which sells around $700 new.

    Good luck!

  5. dlp projection

  6. Best Value right now is probably the Panasonic Plasma. LCDs that big are still pricey and the projections don't look as good. If you are willing to wait however I have seen the new Laser DLPs from Mits and they are KILLER!
