  1. Truthfully I'm not sure the CIA has done all its research. On paper millions of Americans are capable of joining the service but in fact many who try will fail. Recruiters will lie and cheat the system if necessary to get certain subjects to pass and go onto training and whats worse, even after all of that, many still cannot make it to the footprints awaiting them as they descend the bus for training.

Yes, millions of Americans are capable of walking into an office and asking some questions but many will be turned away for things they cannot change. Such as passing the mental portion of the exam.

Besides, even if all of those capable joined, the government outsources so many of the once military jobs to civilian contractors now because it's cheaper then paying their own men to do it. You'd have an insane surplus of unemployed, but paid by the American taxes, military men sitting around in the barracks thinking of ways to pass the time.

There are plenty of men already in the service that want to go and fight the war and may never get the chance to go. It has a lot less to do with how many we have and a lot more with how much it costs to get them there. Trust me.

  2. I am 24 and enlisting in USMC at the end of the month.

  3. They won't allow g**s in the military, plus i would never fight for any cause that GW Bush views as just, and necessary.

  4. diabetes and i do not support this war anymore, great question

  5. I don't support it and never have.  However, keep in mind the number of supporters who have family.  It is not necessarily that they are cowards or hypocrites, it is that they have other priorities in life like taking care of their family.  Though I don't agree with the war, I also do not feel it is right to call someone a hypocrite due to supporting a war yet not serving.

On top of that we also needs people to keep the economy going.  I'm sorry, but the over 100,000,000 million people elegible to serve would be a logistical NIGHTMARE to send into combat half a world away.  On top of that, who would make their supplies back in the states?  The problem has never been lack of soliders, but poor logistics and unclear goals from Politicians on Capital Hill.

Please understand that I agree with you that this war is wrong, but please keep to legitimate points regarding the matter or you will not be taken seriously.

  6. Because I'M paying for it.

    Now MARCH, hippie!

  7. I have served 10 years already.  I now work for a federal agency that takes care of the returning vets.  What do you do?

  8. Because I already did 25 years in the Navy, which included eight years with Fleet Marine Forces. Three days after the attack on America I volunteered to come back off the retired list to active duty but was barred by the age restriction in Federal law. That's my nomenclature. What's yours?

  9. I don't support the war.

  10. HOOKEM said it all

i do my share by financing this war, i dont have to risk my life to fight in something i dont beleive in

  11. Because its a minority sport and a good doorway for citizenship.

  12. We are fighting anti-Bush liberals here at home on YA. We are the true War Heroes. Bush Stay at Home Warriors are the only thing standing between the Iraqis wanting to cut your head off in the grocery store!

  13. Would have to question how they reach the number of eligible for military service. It requires more than just being between a minimum and maximum age. Current trends actually show that about 85% of the age eligible population are not fit for military service due to either being physically, mentally or morally unfit to serve.

And, as one of those who support our military, I have done my time. It is not the job of the military members to only go when they agree with the orders. They go when and where told and complete the mission they are given. Seems that people forget that part.

  14. The military can't support, nor do they need, 60 million or even 120 million people.

  15. i see what you mean. everyone loves to exercise their right of freedom but many will never have the balls to protect it if in jeopardy. when i turn 18 i will be fighting

  16. People make different choices. Allow others to have their freedom. If you were the President all you would be is an old tyrant. Just because you support something doesn't mean you have to partake in it, it's all a choice.

  17. I seriously doubt there are as many women in the military as men.  But besides that, if everyone joined the military we would experience a massive economic collapse leading to our country reverting back 400 years are so.

  18. I'm not fit.

  19. i joined out of high school. US Navy. the question should be why aren't the rest singing up for some type of service, ie peace corps or something. once agai the reps are carrying the dems. i am just kiddin'

  20. MYOB

  21. Are you?  I'm too old to serve are you?
