what do you think my 5k will be at the start of the season? at the end? this is my first season of xc, i'm a junior the previous years i played football. i have run winter and spring track since i was a freshman. my best 400 is 56s and best 800 is 2:13.

i also ran a 4mile road race on the 4th of july (i was very out of shape) in 28:07.

  1. First race should be 23 min and by the end of the season sub 21.

  2. Judging by your 800, I would say if you ran a 5k you would get around 21 minutes, but if you practiced, you could speed it up a lot. Also depends on the course, because flatter courses=faster times.

  3. well first of the guy saying a 2:13 800 would mean you run 21:00 for a 5k is wrong.. an 800 is not a good indication of what your 5k will be, i ran 2:15 in track and my 5k prs in the 16s soo him saying 21 minutes based of your 800 is just wrong. considering you were out of shape july 4th an ran 28:07 for 4 miles (about 7:02 per mile pace) and its in the middle of summer when you shouldnt even be anywere near race ready for cross i would say (rough estimate) if your training you could easily be in the 19s by your first cc race. you never know thou you could be in the 18s if you worked hard enough, you cant really guess how much potential you have based on 400s n 800s so im just taking a guess based on your 4mile race, and by the end of the season it would not suprise me if you were in the 18s or even high 17s, soo keep working hard an you should be good
