our XC team at our school is very small as in less than 15 people. im a sophomore this year and im already #1on my team, dont get me wrong, im kinda good, ive run a 19:05, but im out of shape now and i have a race tuesday and ill be happy to break 20, but i want to do like amazingly well, i know i can because i love running plus its in my blood, my brother was an amazing distance runner at my high school, and so was my uncle (he set the 3200 record at my school which is 9:08 in 1972 and it has yet to be brocken and he missed the mile record by 1.5 (4:19.5) seconds and was an amazing cross country runner as well).your probably asking oh, why dont i just ask my coach but he isnt that great of a coach, we only meet once a week over the summer for a 30 minute run and our practices are jokes (tells us to run for 30 minutes). oh and right before races he comes out and tells us we arent going to win, so i need someone experienced in running help, my goal by the end of the season is low 17's

  1. Do alternative long/short distances. do 100m run/walks (run 100m, walk 100m) for atleast a mile

then you should run even longer distance than your 5k. You should also run your 5k, and go as fast as you can (pase)

Try to sprint the last 400m. and talk to your bro/uncle
