Question:

5th Driving Test Tomorrow!

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I have my 5th driving test tomorrow (UK)! I have been learning to drive for more than two years, and i took my forst test more than a year ago. The first test I failed because i hesitated at a roundabout, the second because i almost went down a no entry road (oopps!) the third because i pulled out on a busy road without enough time in between cars and fourth because i was in the wrong lane :-(

Any tips for how i can pass this time?!?! Thanks, Victoria. X

  1. yes my tip is to give up before you kill someone with your terrible driving!!!

  2. Get plenty of sleep and relax, don't dwell on your past mistakes but don't forget them.

    Enjoy the drive!!

    Don't panic!!

    and don't worry!!

    good luck

  3. Hi Victoria,

If you are learning with an instructor, you should ask them to have some tuition on the 'test routes' where you went wrong.

    Rule with roundabout Lanes :

    Turning Left - Left Lane

    Turning right - Right Lane

Straight ahead - Left Lane / Negotiatable

    Time between vehicles :

The 2 second rule applies, you should be able to count that particular lengh of time between your car, and the one ahead.

    Roundabout Hesitation :

    1. Mirrors, signal, brake, 2nd gear - On approach to roundabout

    2. Stop at the 'Give way' line If road is NOT Clear

    3. Prepare the car to move whilst waiting (1st gear, gas and bite)

    4. Make thorough observations, check mirrors, ahead and right

    5. Move out when the road is clear from the right junction

    6. Change to 3rd gear whilst leaving roundabout if it is safe to do so

It is important to keep your eyes open for potential signs and lights that offer critical information. Lights as in 'Red' trafic lights.

When emerging from a road onto another, for example turning left/right, you should always apply the rule (Mirrors, signal, brakes, gear) and take it slowly until you are actually on the road that you intend to turn into.

We all make mistakes, today on my lesson, I made some vital errors.

I drove over a mini roundabout, totally lost steering control. Then was driving through an area that we don't often use, and the instructor engaged the brakes, as I didn't notice the red light ahead.

    Good Luck in your test!

    GDJ.

  4. Woah, hope you don't live near me with those potentially life threatening mistakes!

However, driving takes time and practice.

You know where you have gone wrong in the past, right?

Don't make those mistakes again, stay calm and relaxed.

    Good luck.

  5. Just relax and take your time. You can drive it seems you just flap under pressure. Stay focused and concentrate and you will be fine.

    Good luck

  6. Im sorry to hear about your test failings, but what ever you  do  >           DO NOT GIVE UP TRYING. Try and get as much experience with a qualified ADI instuctor as you can afford, an intensive driving coarse should help i know it will be expensive but you have got to make it your main goal. Try a different school of motoring, or even find an instructor who just works alone and not for one of the big companies, who will accept a one off payment and will agree to teaching you until you pass your test it will be exspensive but worth it in the long run.

                          Good Luck  Regards MAC

  7. Hi,

Why do people keep refering to the EXAMINER as the INSTRUCTOR ? The guy or gal sitting next to you in the bright yellow vest on test day is the EXAMINER.

It can help some people if your INSTRUCTOR sits in the back of the car during the test (of course he/she is not allowed to help in any way).

    Good luck mate.

  8. Hire a chauffeur.  You are a danger to others.

  9. LOL sorry i couldent control myself....whats the deal...if you drive 1 or 2 hours every day for 2 years how oh how can you not yet drive...practice make perfect...well makes better i hope...good luck...take ur meds before the test to stay calm......hay have u tried driver school?

  10. i'd say take your time, act as though the instructor is a friend and not instructing you. Stay calm gets a early night 2night and u'l b fine

  11. ask the instructor if he will pass you if you suck him off?

  12. Oh dear!  Maybe more practice is needed to build your confidence?  At least if you are not safe to drive they won't pass you which is a good thing really.  But I am sure you will one day

  13. Give up.

There should be a maximum number of times you can take your test.

  14. The mistakes you made before were not inconsiderable, especially the no entry sign, it's difficult to tell because I've never seen you drive, but I think you are getting too nervous, too anxious behind the wheel, it's human nature to be nervous when being tested or examined when there's a risk of failure. I don't mean to be nasty in any way, but are you sure you belong behind the wheel, you've had 4 tests over the space of 2 years, which would mean you will soon need to take another theory test, if it hasn't been retaken or expired already, and if you struggle like this now, how competant are you going to be in the real world without the safety net of 'L' plates or instructor? I'd pause, think about why you made the mistakes you made, and think if you possess the minimum skill needed to handle a car. I'm not trying to be blase or supersillious, even highly experienced drivers can make mistakes (just look at the amount of smashed up traffic police cars hidden in dark corners of scrapyards!!) but the roads nowadays you have to be quick witted and able to counteract the actions of others. Really, after 2 years, I think you're about as ready as you'll ever be, just keep calm and focus 100% on your drive, think and think again about what you're doing and what you're about to do, remember everything your instructor has told you, and GOOD LUCK! But if it doesn't happen this time, I think it's time to take stock of the situation and spend some time having a good think about the whole thing, some people just aren't cut out to drive, it's a simple fact of life.

  15. Try and do a driving test with a driving instructor who can mark you and the correct you on the day. Do this 2 hours before hand and cary on into the test. That way you'll be confident.

    And of course...

Avoid the mistakes you've already made.

    Good luck.

  16. Just take your time and don't be nervous...keep both hands on the wheel and don't break hard..look both ways..and use your blinker

    good luck

  17. sounds like to me if you do pass your test ( god forbid ) your going to end up in a fatal accident . theres enough bad driving about without your sort adding to it.

  18. Don't do those same mistakes again. Hopefully you learned from them.

  19. Hi,

Just think back to all your mistakes and do your best to avoid them.

Also, be confident, its very important when it comes to driving.

    Good luck for tomorrow!!!

  20. You should believe in yourself.  Try as hard as you can and try to not make as many mistakes.

  21. Just stay calm and concentrate on avoiding making these silly mistakes, if you are very nervous your doctor might be able to prescribe you something (I know a girl who had this).  Good luck, let us know how you get on! :)

  22. You seem to be aware of your rash acts in the past!  Don't repeat these mistakes - treat the test as if you are bringing Grandpa/ma back from the hospital...  How would you drive if you did that?  VERY carefully, very smoothly, trying to make sure you didn't spook or jolt them.

Chillax.  Calm drivers pass.  Panickers fail.  They have accidents too.
