  1. oh no! i actually had this problem with a cousin....its wierd and hard on the hair but she went outside with an entire can of areosol hairspray and drenched her hair then let it dry and washed/conditioned it and used one of those small combs. good luck and im sorry your little one has to go through this

  2. My mom used to use the lice stuff (RID) on my little sister who has asthma, just make sure you use i in a well ventilated room, like open the bathroom window or put a portable fan in there, if you are too worried I would call your pediatrician and ask if it's okay.

  3. Olive oil suffocates them.  You'll have to use a nit comb too, though.

  4. The safest home treatment for head lice is one that is contains completely natural ingredients. Steer clear from over the counter pesticide based preparations as they may not only be ineffective, but possibly unsafe. Even if they don’t contain any of chemicals that have been proven to be unsafe, are we really willing to take the risk of using these pesticide based preparations on the highly permeable scalps of our precious children? Who knows what facts may surface in the future about the chemicals in use today?

Luckily there are quite a few totally natural remedies available that readily kill head lice.

Suffocation is an effective method where oil based products (i.e.: mayonnaise) are used to block the breathing holes and kill the live lice. The real trick though is to find natural products that will kill both the live lice and their eggs in one fast effective treatment.

Remedies containing Neem Oil are known to be highly effective as Neem interrupts the growth and reproduction of the head louse. Neem’s insecticidal properties are widely recognized now and the oil is commonly available at your local health food store.

    Good luck.

  5. the most effective (and cheapest) method is this...

put them in the shower every other day. (3 weeks)

    shampoo the hair.

    apply loads of conditioner

go through the hair with a metal bug comb

    rinse

    nothing to upset her asthma!

  6. Have you tried maybe using a mask (like one of those doctor masks so the air he is breathing is filtered while he uses the shampoo.

  7. I've heard mayonnaise works really well. You put it on 10-15 mins and then comb through with on of those tiny combs you can get in the lice kits.

I heard that the mayo smothers them and then you comb out all the nits. Be sure to wash and dry (very warm setting) all sheets, blankets, stuffed animals, vaccumm the mattres, throw out or boil all combs and brushes.

  8. My daughter's friend had head lice.

Are you talking about the Dr. prescribed medicine or the one you can buy at the store?

Part of what my friend did was put a lot of cream rinse in her daughter's hair and comb through it with a lice comb everyday.  She could comb out many of the eggs that way.

Do this everyday..it takes (I believe) 7 days for the eggs to hatch.

Another thing she did was use a straightening iron starting as close to the head as possible and pulling the hair straight down to the ends.  Heat is supposed to get rid of lice also.

Good luck...just be vigilant every day.  She got to where she would cut the individual hairs out that had the eggs on them because her daughter had long hair and it was hard trying to comb them through the ends.

  9. I have always used tea tree

What i do is wet the hair and comb through first, then wash in tea tree shampoo comb again then add the tea tree conditioner leave for a while and comb through and wash out, its worked for us
