Question:

6 Days in Paris: What to do?

I will be going to Paris next week (my first time) and staying there for 6 days.

I am interested in doing things within Paris i.e. the touristy attractions but also want to take some day trips.

Can you please suggest to me some locations outside of Paris of interest i.e. Chatres or Bruges that I can reach by using Paris public transportation i.e. trains?

Any links or books with info would also be much appreciated.

Oh and also would you recommend getting the Paris Museum Pass? Is it worth the value?

And my hotel is in the 2nd district at 3 Boulevard Montmartre.

Can I reach that from Charles de Gaulle airport by using the Metro?

Thank you very much :)

  1. When I went, I stayed in the city (and there is PLENTY to do), so I can't recommend anything outside, but I can tell you I would recommend the Museum pass. Mostly because of the Louvre, which we ended up visiting several days in a row (though we were in walking distance). Also, you should be able to get to Monmarte from the metro, and of course get to the metro from CDG. I would look up the metro map and find out exactly the route, however, because it can be very confusing at first, and you will probably be making quite a few transfers.

  2. Six days is really a very brief time in Paris. I think you seriously underestimate the time required to see just the most popular tourist attractions.

For a day trip I suggest going to Versailles which can easily be reached on the RER (commuter rail system).

The museum pass is really only worth it if you intend to rush from one sight to another emphasizing quantity of sights seen rather than quality time spent on fewer sights.

You can get to your hotel using a combination of the RER and Metro but its easier using the RER and a bus.

Take ther RER from the airport to the gare du nord and then take bus 43 to the Carrefour de Chateaudun stop.
