OK so I do know I am overstocked. But four of them are super tiny now so it appears they have a lot of room. My parents wont let me upgrade. Bassically how do I keep it clean even though it is technically overstocked?

  1. buy a small filter.

  2. a overhead filter will help and do a lot of partial water changes.

  3. Get another filter and have an ammonia removing media in the filter. Maybe return some of the fish? You will have a territorial problem and nipping eventually. Gravel vac twice a month to get out all the p**p.

  4. I would suggest taking 3 of them back to the pet store, since the fish will not have any room to swim once they grow large. But for 6 fish in a tank that size I would start off with doing 2-25% water changes a week. But once those guys grow I suggest doing 3-25% water changes a week. It will be hard to maintain good water conditions with that many goldfish in that size of tank.
