6 Top European Transfers this summer
The transfer window closed yesterday and apart from Manchester city and Real Madrid, it has been a very quite summer. But nonetheless, there have been some noteworthy transfers across the leagues that are set to play a pivotal role in their respective title challenges.
Here is a list of 6 of the top transfers of this summer:
David Villa Valencia to Barcelona for 40 million Euros
The transfer of Villa to Camp Nou has to be the biggest transfer deal of this summer. After the last two seasons, there weren’t many areas where the Blaugranas needed to improve and by adding Villa to an already star-studded squad, it has added further panache to an already impressive side. With Zalatan Ibrahamovic failing to fill in the show of Samuel Eto and Henry departing for New York, a striker was needed in the ranks and there couldn’t have been anyone better than Villa. With Messi on one side and Villa on the other, the Blaugrana attack just seems to be unstoppable.
Angel Di Maria
Benfica to Real Madrid for 22 million Euros
The arrival of Jose Mourinho at the Santiago Barnabeau was always going to be exciting and he proved so by adding to an already embarrassing rich array of talent. Mourinho’s first signing of the summer was the Benfica winger Angel Di Maria and with the likes of Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema, Higuain and Ozil in support, the ensemble cast at the Santiago Barnabeau will give Josep Guardiola some sleepless nights.
Mesut Ozil
Werder Bremen to Real Madrid for 15 million Euros
Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid took the teenager from under the noses of Manchester United, who were also keen on his signature but such was the desperation in Madrid that Mourinho declared the German prodigy his prime transfer target. Ozil adds to a midfield that already boasts the likes of kaka, and Ronaldo and although the all-star cast drew their first mach of the season against Mallorca but once the squad settles in, there will be some fireworks in Andalusia, Catalunya and Madird.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Barcelona to Milan on a season long loan
Just like Bayern have done in Germany, Internazionale have decided not to mess up with a winning combination and have not made many changes to their squad. But that’s not the case in Milan as they have added the likes of Kevin Prince Boateng and Robinho to their squad but none more important than the scintillating Swede Zalatan Ibrahamovic. Zalatan had a massively impressive six year stint at rivals Inter and has six Serie A titles under his belt. He will surely help the Rosseneris push Inter to the limit for the scudetto, this season.
Diego
Juventus to Wolfsburg for 15 million Euros
Bundesliga is not the most famous league in the world but agents and scouts all over the world regard it as the most productive league. The sponsorship deals in Germany are great and turnstiles money generated is greater than anywhere in Europe. There is no wonder that German Clubs are the least debt ridden across the world and yet we don’t see many marquee names moving to the league but norms have changed and the Brazilian midfield dynamite, Diego has moved to Volkswagen Arena. Diego has previous experience in the Bundesliga with Bremen and after failing to impress at Juve, he now returns to the league again.
Yoann Gourcuff
Bordeaux to Lyon for 22 million
He may not have been impressive at the World Cup but he still remains a sublime talent and now has moved from Bordeaux to Lyon in a deal worth 22 million pounds. Clubs all over the world were after the 23-year-old but he chose to stay in France and play for Lyon, also helping them restore their glory days.
