6 track and 8 track?

Question

if i have a 8 track player can i play 6 track on it and 6 on 8 if you remember the old 6 and 8 track players

If you are talking about the combination of devices that gave you a cartridge that fits into a slot in the playing device, much like their successors: cassettes, CDs etc. Then I have to agree with my two other contributors - 6 track? Just plug and see if it plays.

Maybe we've misunderstood and you're talking professional reel-to-reel where, regardless of how many tracks have been recorded on it, it will be the size/format of the tape that will determine whether it is playable on the device you have. If they match, you'll probably be able to pull a lot of information off the tape depending on it's condition.

Sorry, I've never heard of 6-track tapes or players.

6 track ? maybe 2 tracks were left unrecorded.  Give it a try.
