6 week old has a tiny bit of blood in her stools?

I have a 6 week old and just now when I changed her I saw a tiny amount of blood. She was straining pretty hard so I'm wondering if it's just from that or should I worry about it? She also has always had very loose stools. It's not watery but looks like mustard(tmi) I'm gonna call the doctor tomorrow but I'm worried and all the answering service did was page the doctor on call. He still hasn't called me back. I don't think it's enough for a trip to the ER. She acts fine. She's eating and has plenty of pee pee diapers so she's not dehydrated. Anyone know what this could be from? Thanks in advance.

  1. Occasionally an otherwise healthy baby may bass a mucusy blob of blood in their poo. It is rarely a sign of anything significant but you should always check with your doctor or paediatrician. It should be fine unless it persists or there are other signs to indicate the baby is unwell.

  2. Straining may be the cause, a hard stool can tear her a**s/r****m.

The doc. will probably have you put some caro syrup in her bottle to get her stools to soften. It's not good for her to strain to pass a stool.

Best to you and baby, too!

  3. Demand a visit with her pediatrician now!  Blood is NEVER good... Have them page the doctor again if you feel it necessary.  I am a mom of two and my mother always says "Mother's intuition knows best!"  But, if not, get her in tomorrow... I hope she gets better.
