My 6 year old son is pooping in his underwear still. He says that it hurts to p**p and that is why he doesn't do it in the toliet. It isn't tons of p**p but it also isn't just streaks. My 4 year old is better trained to go to the bathroom than him and this is worring me. Is this concerned normal or is there something wronge?

  1. It sounds like he isn't wiping well.  Teach him to wipe.  Get some baby wipes for the bathroom--they are more gentle than toilet paper.  Most 6 year olds have mastered this but not all.  Keep working on it--he'll get it eventually.

  2. At 6 he should be completely potty trained, if he is complaining of pain when he goes, you should see your doctor. Is he eating plenty of fruits and veges? Drinking plenty of water? Getting plenty of exercise? Is he afraid of the toilet? Your doctor may want to know these things.

  3. Go and buy yourself some pampers and you can stop your 6 year old pooping accidents!!!!!!!

  4. Have you had him up the doctors? Does he get upset when he's done it? might be attention, might actually be painful for him, could just do it for comfort ( i know it sounds odd)

  5. It's called encropresis a.k.a stool withholding. It is common in toddler age children, mostly boys. When our son had this problem, we were careful with his diet, avoided cheese, offered more fresh fruits and veggies, and definitely learned to read his body language. He was completely potty trained when he began to have the problem, around 3, and I thought he was being lazy. I had metioned it to a co-worker who was working on her psych degree at the time and we realized he had all of the symptoms. We discreetly told his teacher and he always had a change of clothing in his backpack. It was during 2nd grade when he finally stopped. He also wet the bed a lot because of all of the pressure on his bladder. It is a frustrating thing to go through, but for his sake, don't let your aggravation show.

  6. obviously he is constipated and you need to ask the doctor how to help. Make sure he drinks lots of water and has a healthy diet. Bad constipation can lead to other disorders and problems. Don't make him feel bad about it, he doesn't understand and like he said "it hurts when he goes".  Get an appointment with the doctor and take him in.

  7. Please consult a health care provider. This is too old to be dealing with this..you could use some support from a Dr. Good luck!
