6 year old terrible tantrums and behavior

It sounds as though you have just described my 6 yr old daughter to a tea.   She to has very bad outbursts of temper which almost spiral from nothing to something so intense that I have to just walk away....we to have tried the cool out area and taking her most treasured items away until she can behave better but it does not seem to work.  She does also get very physical with me which is upsetting....She is very much a Jekyl and Hyde.  I am not sure if you have ever had your son tested, but my daughter was diagnosed with having autism...she is not really bad with this, but is on the lower end of the spectrum of it.  She to is an absolute angel in school but her frustration erupts as soon as she leaves.  I may be an idea to have him checked, as I know, if you are like me, think it is something you are doing wrong.  Even if he is not autistic, you are not doing anything wrong, children just somehow have a way of playing us and for a quiet life, we do sometimes give in to them which is wrong but for your own insanity, is just sometimes easier to do.   Hope it all works out well for you.  Nicky
