I want to Stay in Thailand for 90 Days ( 3 months basically )

can I get the Visa before travelling from the UK from the Embassy

Or is the Maximum Tourist Visa 60 days

Also If I was to arrive say the 10th October and Return to Uk 10 January 2009

Would it be ok to get through passport control as long as I ahve a return ticket that says I am leaving Thailand on the 10 th January or whatever date works out as 89 days

I would be staying in Khon Kaen

Also I have been there on 2 Occasions this year

Hows the best way to do this ??

thanks in advance I know lots of posts already Just really want to know somebody who has done this and 100% sure just worrying that I arrive and get sent back :((

  1. First, since you have plenty of time before you travel, you can go to most UK travel agencies (I'd go to the one that booked your ticket), and have the secure the visa for you.  It might take 3 days up to a week to get your passport back, but no big deal, and the commission they charge you for doing it is not so much that it is cost prohibitive.  It would be slightly cheaper, and slightly quicker to go to the Thai Embassy yourself, but it would also be a much bigger headache.

Coming here 3 times in a single year, you will not be hassled, as you are seen as someone who is benefitting the economy where you are staying, so, don't worry too much about being hassled at immigration.

Your proof of onward travel will be looked at, but even if your return flight was 95 days out, you'd still have no problems.

Like Bob said, you have to get a 30 day extension, and that is 1900 baht.  That can be done at any immigration bureau in Thailand.  There is one at every border, and I think in just about all the major cities.

It is likely that the travel agent (unless you booked your ticket online) can give you the assurances you need so can travel without too much stress.

You will not be sent back, I promise you.

  2. Get a 60 day tourist visa before you come, then towards the end of the 60 days extend for addtional 30 days in country for THB 1900....

You dont need a travel agent to do this for you...its easy to do..

Also remember if intend to travel outside Thailand ie Cambodia etc- during your 60 day visa, you will need a re-entry permit as well to keep you current visa going....if you dont have a re-entry permit....the minute you leave Thailand, your visa is voided...irrepective of how much time is left on it..

  3. You can get a tourist visa for 60 days at the Thai consulate, then, near the end of your stay in Thailand  go to immigration and extend your visa for another 30 days at a cost of 1,900 baht.  Or you can come on a 30 days exempt visa at no charge and do two border runs to another country i. e. Cambodia and return the same day  (as long as tensions don't mount to border being closed.)  I recommend the tourist visa.
