60 minute makeover is my favourite programme, i am just curious if anybody on here has actually had it done to their home or know anyone that has. I would like to know if they do a good job or is it messed up due them doing it in a rush?do they really do it in 60 minutes or is a lot of it finished when the cameras stop rolling?also who pays for it?just curious to know!

  1. I have to agree with Lady Jane, I could think of many more way someone could surprise me than with 60 Minute Makeover how some of those designer qualify as 'Designers' is beyond me.

They do the occasional good room, and 1 house this week was nice but i don't believe they can do 2hrs work in 15 mins. They were still hanging paper when the others were putting furniture in. Today they were walking in their working boots on the bright white brand new bed sheets trying to put the lamp shade up.

    No common sense.

  2. I've never had it done but like you, i've always wondered if, as soon as the camera's stop rolling, all the wallpaper falls down etc....interesting question..x x

  3. I have watched this show and I have to say, I don't think I would let them into my house, it all looks too rushed and it was difficult to see where all that money had gone, it didn't look worth it I'm afraid : )

  4. i would LOVE for my house to get a 60 minute make over

but nothing bad has ever happened to my family or anything so they wont be intresting as they always want the sob story

    grrr

    xo

  5. It's actually 45min makeover without the breaks.

Think of it this way, how many professional painter/decorators do YOU know that can do over the whole house in 1hr?

That ould answer your question. The work they do looks shoddy.

  6. Seeing as the surprise is for someone who goes away for the day, I doubt very much that it takes 60Min's and even then by the way they appear to be rushing I'd say there are lots of disasters that never get aired on TV

  7. hiya, yea i had a friend of a friend had theres done, and actually quite alot was done in the 60 min,but all the preparations, emptying the house ,putting masking tape up and sheets down etc etc is all done before, which actually takes the longest! they were pleased though a hole was made in one of the other room walls and they never fixed, and a few other small damages, but they did have the whole thing paid for,my daughter who's 10 has rung up loads to try to get them to come to me! lol but the sweet voice hasn't done the trick! not so lucky! :-)

  8. As I understand it , the actual work takes 60 minutes.

Before that though, they have all the measurements and floor coverings etc are cut to size. Wallpaper is cut and pasted too.

The fixtures and fittings companies along with ITV pay for it all.

I understand from another QAer that it can take up to a week for them to remove the skip !
