$600 government check never came..was i supose to get it?

im 18 and i filed taxes for 2007 and yes i made over $1500. but my mom also claimed me on hers so was i still supose to tht check? i wished i could remember for sure but im almost positive they sent me a letter saying i would. but no check yet! =(...

If you made close to the $1200 or $3000 you mention then someone, most likely your parents did pay over half of your support and did have the legal right to claim you. Your parents could not get a rebate for you because of your age. You should be thanking your parents for supporting you, not trying to find a way to make them give you money.

You can go to calculate my rebate or where's my stimulus rebate at the IRS website and log in some info and find out if you are getting the rebate.

No, dependents aren't eligible.

If you got a letter around March about the program, it did NOT say you were eligible, it was just general info about the program and said "you may be entitled to..."  but since you are a dependent, you are NOT entitled to a stimulus payment.

And actually, the minimum income for the stimulus is $3000, so it doesn't sound like you'd have gotten a check anyway.

Your mom did not get extra stimulus money for claiming you (parents only get extra if the child is under 17), and since she could claim you (regardless if she actually did), you still would not qualify for this.  The following is from the IRS's website talking about who does NOT qualify for a stimulus rebate:

You can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return (whether or not you actually are claimed as a dependent on someone else's return). For example, this would include a child or student who can be claimed on a parent’s return. [Updated 4/15/08]

I think the letters they mailed out went to everyone who filed a return, regardless if they actually qualified for a check.

what if one has no job, over 18,  but has bank income from interests of 3000, will one get  a check?
