  1. when it comes to matching amps and subs more than just the RMS wattage is important-- you need to know the speakers setup (SVC or DVC) and the impedance (ohms) also

subs can be wired up in multiple ways which can change the impedance at the amp (have you noticed that amps wattage rating  change when the impedance (ohms) change)--- an amp that can put out 200watts RMS at 2ohms will be half the wattage needed at 4ohms, so if your setup requires 200watts RMS @ 4ohms and you have 200watts RMS @ 2ohms then you are really under powering your speakers

this link will show you what different impedance's different sub setups (DVC or SVC) and impedance's (2, 4, or 8ohms) will ive you at the amp http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer...

  2. If the brand of subwoofers is known and has high quality, then they underrate their subwoofer RMS power. Most subs can handle 50w extra, it just pushes them a little harder. But if you want, turn the gain on your amp down just a little, so it doesn't overheat, and if you're worried, doesn't hurt the amps. I have two MTX 7500's and they are rated at 400w RMS each and I have been powering them for months at 600w. They can handle it because they are good in quality and are underrated. If it's a company like boss audio or lightning audio though, they overrate so you wouldn't want to power higher than they rate their subs. Good luck.

  3. As long as you set the gain properly you can hook up any amp to them you wanted to. Also the gain is not a volume control, the more you turn it up the more voltage it is sending out to the speakers. So set your gain properly and you will be fine.
