60i VS. 1080i?

how does 60i compare to 1080i, or even 30fps? for example on the Canon HV20, what would 30p offer (if it had it) that 60i can't do? this really seems to be the last thing holding me up from buying one of these.

  1. I can appreciate what the Apple doood said, but isn't it true that blu-ray does 1080 60p and HD-DVD only 60i or 30p (half the info, half the bitrate)? And seeings how Blu-ray won the war last month, do the math.

    Good luck!

  2. 50i is pal where as 60 i is ntsc.

if you're shooting 60i that means you have interlaced frames (ie non progressive scan).

there is not a whole lot in it frankly unless you are thinking about projecting stuff on a larger screen.

general rule of thumb is that interlaced is fine for TV where as progressive would be better for projection or HD broadcast.
