  1. 6(3X-1) - 8X = 140 + 2(X-1)

    18X - 6 - 8X = 140 + 2X - 2

    10X - 6 = 138 + 2X

    8X = 144

    X = 144/8

    X = 18

    Hope this helps

  2. 6(3x-1)-8x=140+2(x-1)

    6x's 3= 18x and 6 x's -1=-6

    18x-6-8x= 140+2x-2

    subtract 18x-8x and get 10x

    subtract 140-2 and get 138

    10x-6= 148+2x

    subtract 2x .. 10x-2x=8x

    so you're left with

    -6=148+8x

    then go -6 minus 148

    -154 =8x

    divide 8x to -154

    answer: -19 1/4

    i'm pretty sure that's right. if not, i tried! :]
