How many red and blue leg hermit crabs should I get for my 65 gallon tank? Id prefer not buying any snails...

Hermit crabs are not replacements for snails.  They may both eat algae but not the same kinds.  How many hermit crabs your tank can support is dependent on the live rock you have in the tank and how mature the tank is.  You could have a half dozen to your tank assuming you have enough rock for them.  Make sure you feed them sea veggies or something similar if they don't have enough natural food.  The hippo would love the sea veggies as well so make sure some of it gets put where the hermits can eat it.
