65th East Anglian Greyhound Derby 2nd Round Heats finalized the qualifiers of the Semi finals
On 7th of September, 2011, Yarmouth race track was given the honour to organize a very well known race, the 65th East Anglian Greyhound Derby's 2nd Round.
The 462 meters race, run among six greyhounds, placed the prize money of £375, out of which £125 was rewarded to the winner whereas £50 was given to the rest of the five participants of 65th East Anglian Greyhound Derby's 2nd round's
Heat 1.
Under M H Fawsitt’s training, Diesel Malc, a three-year-old hound gave a tremendous hit with a superb chase.
Wearing white and black shirt, the son of Ballymac Maeve out of Crazy Jane, raced from trap 3 with a speedy pace. The brindle dog, railing through his contenders, streamed all the way to the finish line by leading the race.
The 2/1 favourite presented a hit for trainer M H Fawsitt by covering the distance in 27.75 seconds.
Diesel Malc the purse winner made his contender, the black dog, Rookery Pedro, finish second by 2 ½ lengths.
The 8/1 favourite had a good start from trap 6, but later on he could not keep up with the pace and reached the wire in 27.95 seconds.
Among the four Heats held on Wednesday, the purse winner of Heat 2 was the white and brindle dog, Romeo Reason.
Wearing black and white shirt, he raced out of trap 3 with an outclass pace. The 9/1 favourite railed all the way from the start till the end.
Although he got crowded, the champ managed really well to be the first one on the other side of the wire.
Covering the distance in 27.90 seconds the hound accomplished a hit for trainer E Mcnair.
J G Mullins’s Holycross Prince finished second in the Heat 2 by 1 length. The black dog chasing the lure came out of trap 1, wearing red and white shirt.
While railing through the dirt, the young hound got crowded, which made him reach the line nine seconds later than Romeo Reason.
The 65th East Anglian Greyhound Derby's 2nd Round's Heat 3 declared Fifis Rocket the victor of the race.
The three-year-old white and black dog chased the lure with an incredible momentum. Running from trap 6, the 11/8 favourite was leading the race till the end.
Covering the distance in 27.77 seconds, the son of Brett Lee won the purse worth £125 for trainer C Allsopp.
Finishing second by 2 ¾ lengths was Droopys Hector, a three-year-old brindle dog, whose chase was good, but he could not compete the speedy attitude of Fifis Rocket and finished the race in 27.98 seconds.
The last Heat of the event not only concluded the race, but it also declared the purse winner, Yahoo Jamie, as the fastest qualifier for the 65th East Anglian Greyhound Derby's semifinals, to be held on the 10th of September, 2011.
The black dog started his victorious race from trap 6, wearing black and white stripes with red.
His quick pace and confident posture not only brought home the purse of £125 but his swift performance made trainer C R Lister a happy camper on the night.
Leading the race throughout the competition, the young hound covered the distance in 27.62 seconds and left C Allsopp’s Brittons Empire 2 ¾ lengths behind.
The black dog finished second in Heat 4 with his good early pace and managed to reach the wire in 27.84 seconds.
Wednesday night at Yarmouth brought miraculous results in the 65th East Anglian Greyhound Derby, not only giving a reason to the contenders to push the boat out but they took a handsome amount of prize money back home as well.
