Question:

660 Grizzley Mikuni carb overflow?

I have a 2002 660 Grizzley that I have replace the needle and seat, adjusted the float. After a couple of hours of riding when shut off it will overflow until the tank is empty. I have adjusted the float by the manual and had the shop adjust it. It seems to work for awhile but then will start to over flow again. It seems as though after being hot it pressurizes and over flows. Could this be a venting problem and if so where is the vent and how would I clean it? I ride above 5000 ft and have had this problem for some time. Any help?

  1. RW: u assume a lot, here is a typ parts diagram of a fuel tank vent.

but in general the tank is vented either through a tube or the cap.If U think there is a tank vent prob, why not leave the cap loose when u park it as a check.

I wouldn't expect pressurization to completely empty the tank, so maybe 2nd u should check that the floats aren't picking up fuel. this would make them heavier, throwing off float settings

  2. There may be some junk in the fuel tank that keeps getting lodged in the needle & seat.

    Install an in-line fuel filter.

I put # 701C on all of my bikes.

I've never had an over-flow problem.
