661 Motocross boot sizing????

I want to order a pair of 661 motocross boots but I don't know what size to order. There isn't anywhere close where I can try them on. I wear a 9 or 9.5 shoe, and the 661 boots only come in size 9 and size 10. So do I go with the 9 or with the 10? I actually measured my feet the other day and they measure 9 3/4 inches. If you have a pair of these boots and can give me an idea I would appreciate it!!

  1. There is really no way to answer this reliably. A single number does not adequately describe someone's foot, and different manufacturers have different sizes.

Your foot has at *least* four different measurements, length, width at the heel, width at the wide part of the foot, and "volume", the distance from the tip of your heel to the center of the arc of the instep.

This is why loafers often fit better than balmorals or bluchers--they don't cover the instep as thoroughly, and hence don't put pressure there.

Given how many hours you'll be in the boots, and the kind of workout your legs and feet get in a motocross environment I would suggest one of two things:

    1) Either go with a brand/boot you can try on, or

    2) Buy the 10s but make sure you can return them if they don't fit well.

If you go for option 2, spend several hours walking (or riding) *before* trying the boots on (your feet swell a bit as the day progresses) and don't leave the house with them until you're sure they fit right.

Since you don't have the option of half sizes, you can also try using different thickness of foot inserts, for instance these:

    versus:

The first ones (green) fill up more volume. Also you can get thicker or thinner socks, or even look for socks that have more cushion on the foot as opposed to the top etc.

  2. Motorcycle racing questions?

I want to answer some of them.

  3. I have 661 boots, go with the size 10. They are great, All 661 gear is kick butt.....I ordered everything on their website.

  4. Go with the bigger size - you'll want to wear padded over-the-calf socks anyway, most likely, but you can't wear anything to make a smaller size bigger. ;)

I wear an 8.5 in shoes, bought a size 9 in MX boots, and with the right socks they fit fine even after being out all day.

Also, buying from someplace that takes returns is probably a good idea.

  5. talk to the manufacturer, iam sure if you send them your measurements the will select the correct boot for your feet. then sit back and waite for them in the mail.
